Any battle we face demands that we wield a weapon. A spiritual battle, which I believe we are in today, one brought on by the devil and his schemes to try to divide us, demands that we take up our sword. Not a physical, sharp, sword, but the sword of the spirit which is God’s Word. Our Bibles are the weapons in which we fight against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 NLT
These Holy pages, the sacred scripture, these God-breathed words inspired by our own Heavenly Father are the weapons in which we take to fight the unseen enemies in this world. One book at a time, one chapter at a time, one page at a time, one verse at a time is how a Christian is to fight their battles.
Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.
Like any good soldier we have to know our weapon well. We have to sharpen our sword by sharpening our mind by the words written in that great book. We have to study our weapon, know it inside and out. We need to hide those words in our heart. If we’ve used our weapon well it will be banged up and well worn from fighting in so many battles.
We have to be willing to stand up and fight for the truth of God’s word today when the truth has been traded for lies. We have to be willing to take up that sword, Bible in hand, with those words on our hearts and mind and be willing to shout those words on the front lines of this battle.
One of the parts of the suit of armor is the belt of truth. It seems like some soldiers today have left that behind. Without the belt of truth to hold the whole attire together, the armor will only fall apart. We have to go forth in the truth of God’s Word, even if it is different than what is being shouted from the world today. God’s Word’s never change, despite people trying to change them for their own agenda and make their sins excusable. God will be the final judge on the matter so we better hold tight to the truth and the sword of God’s Word which betrays those truths.
I pray Christians have their armor on today to be ready to counter attacks from the devil, to stop his fiery darts of evil and lies from penetrating any further into the hearts and minds of people on this world and to protect our own hearts.
“Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” Ephesians 6:10-17 NLT
