Regrets, I’ve Had a Few

Franks Sinatra crooned this line many years ago in the song, “My Way.” He followed it up with, “But then again, too few to mention.”
Not so for me. I have several regrets that I could mention. A mile long list of regrets, mistakes, sins and failures. I guess it’s safe to say, that I’ve had more than a few regrets.
“Old Blue Eyes,” as Mr. Sinatra was called at times, may have did it his way. But I run into more problems and more
regrets when I do it my way instead of God‘s way. If I try to fix my own problems and worries, I make it worse. If I don’t go to God in prayer and ask for his help and guidance, my problems start to grow, therefore making my regrets many.
As Christians we have such a wonderful opportunity to be created new in Christ. We have redemption through Him that is found in no other and is like no other. Because of His death on the cross, I can take all of those regrets, sins, mistakes and failures and the blood of Christ washes it anew. And I become clean and whole again. I have a fresh start in Christ. ”This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17. We have the opportunity to go before God in prayer and tell him of our regrets and sins. 1 John 1:9 says, “But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.” We have a cleansing and renewal that God offers through His son’s sacrifice if we just confess our wrong doing in prayer and ask for His forgiveness.
The new year is here! Celebrate the fact that we have a new opportunity in Jesus each and every day.
Quit trying to do it your way and try it God‘s way. Become a new creation in Christ if you’re not already. If you are, be renewed through Jesus‘ grace and mercy through repentance and prayer and your regrets can truly be few.
