One Nation Under God

As we pledge allegiance to the flag, we recite we are “One nation under God,” but I wonder if our hearts feel that is true.
There are people in this nation who no longer want the phrase ‘under God’ used in the pledge to our flag and nation.
There are people who say it with no forethought. The words come from the mouth but not the heart.
It’s easy to do that. It’s easy to become ritual and just go through the motions with no emotions.
But right now I think we need to remember that more than ever. That we are one nation under God.
We need to call on the Lord, for the nation that does so is blessed according to Psalm 33:12.
We need to remember that we are the United States of America, not the divided states of America. The nation that is under God knows that God calls for unity and peace, not chaos.
For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. 1 Corinthians 14:33
We need remember that we are one nation under God, indivisible, meaning unable to divide or separate. Unity under God once again seems to be the key to gathering together peacefully.
Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy, brotherly love, a tender heart, and a humble mind. 1 Peter 3:8
Love for each other seems to be the key to unity. Above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3:14
We need to recall that we are one nation under God, with liberty, being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life.
The phrase ‘under God’ was not added until
1954, in response to the Communist threat of the times, President Eisenhower encouraged Congress to add the words "under God," Something we desperately need to remember today.
The nation that is under God also knows that we use this liberty, this freedom to love and serve one another. Once again calling for unity.
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. Galatians 5:13
We need to call to mind that we are one nation under God with justice for all. Justice should be for all. Justice seems to have been all but forgotten today. Justice is a concern for peace and genuine respect for people. My how it seems that some have neglected that today.
We have neglected peace and respect for others. The nation that is under God remembers it’s fellow man. The nation under God would live by His words that encourages us to love our neighbor (Mark 12:31), to look out for the interest of others before our own (Philippians 2:4), to carry one another‘s burdens (Galatians 6:2), to humble ourselves (James 4:10), to encourage and lift others up (1 Thess. 5:11). Everything in God’s nation should scream unity, peace, justice, love, humility and mercy.
He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
Our goal as a nation should be to walk humbly with God and each other.
I guess for us to achieve this goal we would have to know where our allegiance lies. Does it lie with our own selfish desires and ways? Does it lie in false doctrines or false narratives? Does it lie in hatred, division and violence? Or does our allegiance preside under God?
I do pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, because I appreciate the sacrifices fought for what that flag represents, but most importantly I pledge allegiance to the one and only true God with whom that nation is under.
Whether or not this nation stays under God’s rule, He will remain sovereign and on His thrown despite our choices to honor Him or not. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord and our allegiance to Him and this nation will not falter. I pray this nation does the same and remains one nation under God.
