A memorial is intended to commemorate someone or something.
We celebrate Memorial Day to commentate or remember those who have fought for our country and our freedoms, to remember that our current military continues to do the same and remember loved ones who have passed on by placing flowers on their graves. Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13
As Christians we have a unique opportunity to remember One who laid down His life for all of mankind for freedom from our sins.
“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36
During the communion we have the blessing of taking the bread that represents the body and the juice that represents the blood that He shed, all the while knowing that he gently commanded “Do this in remembrance of me.“ What a wonderful thing to be able to commemorate Jesus‘ sacrifice upon the first day of the week.
Greater love has no man than to sacrifice his life, whether it be for a country or for the world.
This Memorial weekend is a great reason to remember those who have died for us, especially the One who died so we can live, not only in freedom in this life, but for eternity. He died so we can live again.
