“The ’Me Too‘ movement is a movement against sexual harassment or sexual assault. It is to empower women through empathy and strength in numbers, especially young and vulnerable women, by visibly demonstrating how many women have survived sexual assault and harassment”, according to Wikipedia. “Following the exposure of the widespread sexual-abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein in early October 2017, the movement began to spread virally as a hashtagon social media.“
I‘m all for that. I can get behind this movement, if it supports women not being sexually objectified. The problem is the same women who hashtag the #metoomovement all over their social media pages are also flaunting their bodies and not being modest with their bodies that they don’t want to be touched inappropriately.
Most recently we saw Jennifer Lopez dancing provocatively in the Super Bowl half time performance that bordered on pornography. She danced on a pole while men touched her and fondled her all over. Yet she cries #metoo all over the World Wide Web.
Where are the voices behind this movement against the objectivity of women? Why are they not crying out against this perversity? The objectivity, the sexuality was flaunted all over the stage for the world to see, yet the movement against this very thing is silent.
Well, if they won’t, I will cry me too! What about me? What about how I feel? How about how the average woman feels? What about how the quiet, Christian woman with her moral and Biblical beliefs? The woman who is offended by a supposedly mature woman flaunting her body over the super bowl stage? Are we allowed to voice our opinions and cry out against this atrocity?
I’m here. My voice matters.
You’re here. You’re voice matters.
Me too. You too.
I think as Christians we are told more and more that our voices do not matter. Our opinions are worthless. Our beliefs are old fashioned and prude. The media and social media, and others in this world have seemed to have forgotten or discredit God and what he says in His Word and what He expects of us.
Maybe we should be crying God too.
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. Isaiah 40:8
We need to remember God too and the words he provides for our guidance of sexual morality in the Bible. He commands women to not let their beauty be on the outside, but “rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. 1 Peter 3:3-4
A woman who fears and respects the Lord, a woman of virtue and valor doesn’t dress inappropriately instead, she “is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness.” She is a strong, powerful woman. “She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy.” Proverbs 31:17, 20,25. ”When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. Proverbs 31:26
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” Proverbs 31:30
Me too! I want to be like this woman.
I just want remind the Christian woman, the virtuous woman of today, that you with your morals and values, you who obey the Lord, you who dress modestly, you who fear the Lord, #youtoo matter.
God is not concerned with these people who forget Him and His Word. He knows who He is. He says in Exodus 3:14, ”I Am who I Am.”
I want us to remember #Godtoo, but He knows He is the “Great I Am” and that will never change even if people forget who He is and forget His Word. He and His word will stand forever.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. Isaiah 40:28
Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. Psalm 90:2
I too, want to remember this and never forget who God is. I too, want to obey His everlasting Word, I too want to stand against the objectivity of women, but as a woman who dresses and acts modestly with respect of the Lord. What about you? Do you too?
