Home is the one Place I Know My Direction

I am not good with directions. At. All. I am directional-ly challenged. I'm not kidding. I can go to the same place several times and still get lost the next time I go. I can feel very lost in this world sometimes.
However it's different when I'm at home. The front door to our house faces the north. I only know this because my husband has mentioned that several times. Our bedroom is on the opposite side facing the south. The sun sets in the west, I have known that direction pretty well, thanks to the sun's constant pattern😉, casting a shadow from the big sycamore tree in our backyard, through the blinds of our bedroom window, around early to late afternoon. There is something about these shadows that are so peaceful and relaxing to me.
So, when I'm home I know my directions and as I sit in my room and as I write these words with just enough shadow cast through the window, I have a sense of peace about me.
It's like this when we are at home with Jesus. His door faces any and every direction your're facing and he stands at it knocking and says, "If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends." Revelation 3:20 NLT
When I'm with Jesus I know I'm home and I know the direction I'm going with Him, because it is wherever he leads. If the Lord builds the house and watches over the city, then I'm safe. (Psalm 127:1) With Jesus, I know where I am and I know I belong.
I may find peace and solitude in my room and be able to rest and comfort in the shadows that are cast on an early afternoon, but I can find so much more if I choose to dwell in the shelter of the Most High and rest in the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)
