Faith in the When/Win

I don't know the future. I don't have a crystal ball, I can not read palms, cards or or the stars to predict what lies ahead. That can be unsettling, especially if we face trials, uncertainty, fears or just really want to know an outcome.
Moses understood this. He was there in the midst of an uncertain future, he was afraid of the task that lied ahead that God had called him to and even told God as much, he told him that he was unqualified and not up for the task. He told God, "I can't do this."
Moses protested to God, “Who am I to appear before Pharaoh? Who am I to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt?” Exodus 3:11
Who am I? That's the question that plagues us, but I think we're asking the wrong question. I think Moses asked the wrong question. We should be asking who God is and who am I with God.
We know that God tells Moses further down in scripture that He is the great I Am, as we know it. “I AM WHO I AM. Say this to the people of Israel: I AM has sent me to you.” Exodus 3:14
He is the I AM. Not meant to be confusing, but simply to say that God is God, He is the same God then as He is now. God is God.
The good news about this gets even better. God is who He is, but He is also with us and will be with us when we need him. When we wonder who we are, He reminds us who He is and is right there by our side.
God answered, “I will be with you. And this is your sign that I am the one who has sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you will worship God at this very mountain.” Exodus 3:12
He told Moses He would be with him. It didn't matter who He was, who we are, it matters who we have with us, working in us to help us. Not only did God remind Moses that he was with him , but he also reminded him that he already knew the outcome. He knew the future. The key word here is, 'When.' When you...not if you, but when you have brought the people out. He told him the very outcome of the situation. He told him, when. The when equals a win. He said when they come out, they will worship Him.
The future was already written, was already done for the Israelites, it was done in God's eyes. Moses had not yet lived it or seen it, but God knew what was to come.
The same is done for us. God already knows the outcome of our lives, our circumstances, our issues, our problems our trials, our future. We haven't lived it yet, we haven't seen the final results, so we live in fear, in worry not knowing what will be, all the while forgetting to trust the One who does.
Our faith is what shows that we trust in the unknown tomorrow in our God that we know who does. The old hymn, "I Know Who Holds Tomorrow" reminds us of this fact.
"Many things about tomorrow
I don't seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand."
Let God, the One who holds tomorrow, hold your hand and lead you in peace as you trust in Him. Let the 'when' be your win. Let the 'when' be your peace of mind that God is in control and has already won the battle for you. Knowing He already knows should give us peace and strength as we trust in Him.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5.
If my trust and understanding is just in who I am, then I am in trouble, I will fail. If I do not lean on my own understanding and trust in the great I Am, who God is and who I am in God, if my trust and strength come form the Lord in my future, it will always be a When-win.
