Did You Know?

“Mary Did you know?” is a popular Christmas song and I’m sure you’ve heard it a time or two this time of year.
Questions asked in the song are, “Mary did you know that you your baby boy is the Lord of all creation?” That He “would one day rule the nations?” He “is heaven's perfect lamb?” “Do you know that sleeping child you're holding is the great I am?”
I have a feeling that she knew more than the song implies. She was given a message from one of God’s angels. “Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”” Luke 1:30-33 NKJV
I think she may not have fully understood all that this mission would entail, but I think she knew she had the chance to bear the light of the world.
I have a question for you? Did you know you have a chance to bear the light of the world?
I‘m no angel and I’m not telling you that you will carry the next messiah in your womb, but you can bear the light of Jesus in your heart and in your daily life.
I want to to be a bearer of that light. I want to let my light shine in me so much that others to see Chrsit and bring glory to his name. Sounds like a familiar passage. (Matthew 5:16)
You see the problem is, If others fail to see Christ in me, then I have failed Christ. I have failed my mission as a light bearer.
Do you know what you’re response will be to God’s Call to bear the light?
Mary did know what she wanted to do. Judging from her response to the angel we know she’s was ready and willing. “And Mary said, "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word."Luke 1:38 ESV
If there is one thing I know for for sure is I want to have that same response. I want to be the Lord‘s servant and daily shine the light of Christ in my little corner of the world. I hope you know that too. Let it shine!
